Citizens Behind the Badge Director, President & CEO, Craig Floyd

Anyone who has been involved in law enforcement or has attended Police Week in Washington, D.C., may be familiar with the name Craig Floyd. He founded the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) in 1984 alongside U.S. Representative Mario Biaggi (D-NY). Under his leadership, the Memorial was completed and dedicated in 1991, the Museum opened in 2018, and now the NLEOMF maintains the most comprehensive database of officers killed in the line of duty. After 34 years of guiding the organization, he retired in 2018 and became Founding CEO Emeritus.

Floyd didn’t stay retired for very long. He had dedicated a large portion of his life to honoring police officers. In 2020, supporters of the Defund the Police movement targeted our brave men and women in law enforcement. Floyd could not sit idly by and watch as these brave heroes were demeaned and criticized. So, he decided to form a new organization, Citizens Behind the Badge, to be a leading voice of the American people in support of men and women in law enforcement.

Citizens Behind the Badge (behindbadge.org) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization governed by a three-person board of directors and an eighteen-person advisory council composed of law enforcement officers.
