Sean Visners


Sean Visners is a 25 year law enforcement veteran and currently serves as the Deputy Chief for the Sunrise Police Department in south Florida. Before ascending the ranks, Deputy Chief Visners spent 13 years as a Detective and Detective Sergeant tasked with homicide and violent crime investigations. Deputy Chief Visners spent 8 years as a SWAT operator and team leader. During his SWAT tenure, Deputy Chief Visners was awarded the Medal of Valor for his courageous actions taken during an officer involved shooting. As a Lieutenant, Deputy Chief Visners commanded a platoon of road patrol officers and oversaw police operations at the FLA Live Arena, which is home to the NHL’s Florida Panthers. As a Major, Deputy Chief Visners was given various leadership assignments that included the command of the Uniform, Special Operations, and Administrative Services Divisions. Throughout the course of his career, Deputy Chief Visners also served as a Narcotics Detective, Street Crimes Detective, and Field Training Officer. Deputy Chief Visners has been the recipient of his agency’s Officer of the Year award and has been recognized as the Officer of the Month 10 times. Deputy Chief Visners has conducted over 4,000 hours of training, is a court recognized use of force expert, and teaches police recruits at the Institute of Public Safety located on the Broward College campus.  Deputy Chief Visners is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 276.
