Michael Neal


Michael Kent Neal is currently on his third term as the Sheriff of Monroe County and is up for re-election in 2022. Neal is a former Corporal for Arkansas Game & Fish and was assigned to Lee County.

Michael began his career in law enforcement in 1998 as a part time officer for the Monroe County Sheriff's Department. Served 10 1/2 years with the Brinkley Fire and Rescue as Instructor and retiring in 2009 as a Captain.

Sheriff Neal has held board positions on the Arkansas Tactical Association, former president of Brinkley Rotary, current Vice President of Neal and Sons LTD. Brinkley camber of commerce and owner of N&F Training Solutions.

On May 20, 2010 Office Neal was instrumental in ending a brutal gun battle in West Memphis that resulted in the death of two West Memphis police officers and the wounding of the Crittenden County Sheriff and his chief deputy.

Sheriff Neal has received numerous different awards from the May 20th shooting which included: 3 Medals of Valor, the 2011 International officer of the year. On February 20, 2012 Officer Neal was awarded the Congressional Medal of Valor from the President of the United States. Sheriff Neal’s truck and rifle are now on display at the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington DC.
