William J. Erfurth
After 26 years of highly decorated service, William (Bill) Erfurth is now honorably retired from the Miami-Dade Police Department in Miami, Florida.
Mr. Erfurth was promoted through the ranks to Lieutenant, and in 1997 was assigned as Commander of The Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT). This unit became the most productive unit in the Miami-Dade Police Department’s history, and recognized nationally as one of the top units in the country. As the leader of TNT, Mr. Erfurth was responsible for the supervision of 130 officers, and a multi-million dollar budget. Mr. Erfurth worked significant cases in undercover narcotics, and in infiltrating the Mafia, completing his career as the Commander of a Multi-Agency Violent Crime Task Force.
In 1995 Mr. Erfurth was approached by Jefferson Pilot Communications to host a new radio show. The show, Copnet - the Police Radio Network became a nationally syndicated radio program, airing in 100 markets, and the first syndicated show of its kind to be hosted by active police officers. “Copnet” aired for nine years, winning three Achievement in Radio Awards.
In 2001, while still working on the radio show, Mr. Erfurth, was approached by the Discovery Channel and the BBC to do an eight-part mini-series about the TNT police unit entitled The Real Miami Vice. On location filming with TNT lasted for four months. Upon completion of filming, Mr. Erfurth traveled to London to work with the editors on the final cut. The show still airs occasionally on both networks.
Mr. Erfurth came to filmmaking from a non-traditional background. In 2002, Mr. Erfurth became a Consultant and Technical Advisor for Bad Boys II. His Tactical Narcotics Team was featured in the movie. Mr. Erfurth served as Technical Advisor to Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Director Michael Bay. He also appeared in the movie and received his SAG card.
To this day, Mr. Erfurth maintains an active and regular association with Bruckheimer Films, Michael Bay Films, as well as various Studios and Independent Production Companies. He has worked as an EP, Consultant, Technical Advisor, and in Research & Development services for TV and Studio productions.
This past year Mr. Erfurth worked as an EP and appeared in a TV pilot that he created called Darkside Miami, which aired on LMN/A&E. In 2013, he produced the documentary film Heroes Behind The Badge – Sacrifice & Survival, the follow up film to the award winning first film Heroes Behind The Badge in 2012, in partnership with The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC. He also worked on Michael Bay’s feature film Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg and The Rock, as well as starring in a new TV series on Nat Geo, The Great American Manhunt. Bill was also a Producer on the critically acclaimed feature film entitled Canvas, starring Emmy Award winner, Joseph Pantoliano and Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden in 2006.
Mr. Erfurth is the President and a Director of Modern City Entertainment. He works on developing new Law Enforcement show ideas, producing and consulting, providing access through established Law Enforcement and Police Union relationships, and opening doors through trust, reputation, and the fraternal brotherhood he has established over the years.
